it is with such relief that i write these words today, just the site of these mixed greens sprouting up in their newspaper pots, is enough for me to recognise that spring is on its way to sweden.

2010
(2010-01-04)

happy new year 2010!

wow...have had some time off to reflect and catch some breaths inbetween. its not until i stop that i realise at what pace i am moving..a bit too fast for my liking.

2010 is the year of creativity, intuitive thinking and being able to "say it as it is" (my favourite)

i read this great quote by albert einstein which i would like to share with you:

" the intuitive mind is a sacred gift and the rational mind is a faithful servant. we have created a society that honours the servant and has forgotten the gift"

bring on 2010!

re-using old plates
(2009-12-04)

my dear sister kasia paints plates...when i was visiting her in france last year we talked about how i could incorporate her work into goodness.

she normally paints new plates and i wanted to have some plates that were re-used. so we decided to go hunting for some second hand french plates and she started drawing on them.

with her inspiration from nature, folklore and graphic repetition she draws such wonderful patterns..here are just a few of them that i have hanging in the shop..they can also be used, or to add to some artwork on your wall...bring back the art of plate hanging!

we have many others in the shop!

cheers

candles with a long life
(2009-11-15)

there is an art to making your candles last longer, well if there isnt now there is.

this eco soya wax candle in this 2nd hand tea cup, has lasted in the shop from last friday to yesterday (saturday)glowing beautifully with a scent of lemongrass. so, basically it has burned for roughly 20 hours.

i believe the reason that it lasted a long time was not only that it is soy wax and burns longer, but the fact that each time it was lit, i snipped the wick to make it shorter and then whilst it was burning, made sure that the wick was in the middle of the cup (by gently coaxing it back to the middle)

soy wax candles (only certified soy) are not made from petroleum, like paraffin candles. they can last up to 50% longer than paraffin candles.

lighting a candle during the day during these winter months is up lifting.

bye for now

moss boy
(2009-11-12)

this is sachem alias moss boy!

you know i am not one who enjoys halloween or getting dressed up, but when this was sent to me i found myself thinking what fun sachem had dressing up and playing another role of being moss...beautiful boy!

just to add to this posting, i saw the micheal jackson film "this is it" last night with asta and we had such a great time. he was part of my up bringing and to listen to the songs he sung and danced to was a flashback. and each song had meaning. we were sitting in our seats just dancing together!

cheerio for now

stiching and chatting
(2009-10-12)

this saturday, i was invited to a dear friends house for an evening with 15 other wonderful women. at one point we were all given a piece of a sheet, a needle, red thread and were asked to sew something on the sheet, we sat around for some hours, chatting and laughing and eventually when each of us finished our sewing, we stiched the pieces together to make a table cloth for our evening meal...it was wonderful. a fantastic way to spend time together.

thank you!

tepee heaven
(2009-09-21)

a few weeks ago we had a family reunion in norfolk, england. arriving to my sisters house late on the thursday night, we were welcomed by a rather joyous site. 6 tepees with fireplaces were rented by john (my brother in law) they were glowing with the light from the fire and they looked fantastic. we proceeded to have a long weekend of famliy being together. it was truly fruitful! this was my first view in the morning waking up.

home dvd
(2009-09-15)

i have seen this film before, but watched it again this weekend, it is truly a beautiful film by Yann Artus-Bertrand, the footage that he has captured from the air is so real and at many moments breath taking.
one  sees the gradual depletion of this earth and it can be seen as sad, but we have the opportunity to see and deal with what we have, not what has passed.

just copy and paste this address on to you tube and watch the whole fim for free
